First week

Other than the typical transportation and lunch adjustments, there were relatively few issues that impeded the grand opening of LWTHS. Students from all over Collier County (selected via lottery) arrived August 14th to their new learning environment. Members of the media came to document opening day, as well. The Naples Daily News article and vodcast represent the kind of enthusiasm and uniqueness LWTHS represents.

Students are enrolled in the following eight classes during the year using the 4x4 block schedule of 86-minute learning blocks:
  • English 1
  • Advanced Communications
  • Algebra 1
  • Biology
  • World Cultural Geography
  • Spanish 1 or 2 or Native Speakers
  • Psychology and Health
  • Technology Studies 1

Some awesome comments from students last week....

"You can tell that everyone around here cares - there's no chance that I won't have someone to talk to if I have a problem with school."

"It's great that we don't have seniors giving us a hard time!"

"I love the activity we did in Psychology!"
